Hougang Master Plan and Transformations

Several upcoming developments in the Hougang precinct, along with the new Cross Island Line, will greatly enhance the vibrancy of the Hougang Central Residence neighbourhood. Key developments to watch:

1. Development of the MRT Cross Island Line (CRL)
   The Cross Island Line Singapore’s eighth MRT line will pass through Hougang Central, greatly improving connectivity across the island. It will link key regions including the Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District, and Changi, while enhancing access to existing and future developments across the eastern, northeastern, and western corridors.
2. Improved public transport and cycling networks
   By 2035, the North-East region will be served by five MRT lines, including the Thomson-East Coast Line and Cross Island Line, offering faster and more convenient commutes. Additionally, expanded cycling networks across nearby towns will support a more active and car-lite lifestyle.
3. Enhanced recreational spaces and water activities
   Serangoon Reservoir, Punggol Reservoir, and My Waterway@Punggol will be upgraded with promenades and enhanced access for cyclists and recreational users. These scenic routes will connect to major lifestyle hubs like SAFRA Punggol, Anchorvale Community Club, and the future Punggol Regional Sports Centre.
4. Outward Bound Singapore @ Coney Island
   The upcoming OBS campus at Coney Island will serve as a nature and outdoor education hub for the North-East. Open to the public, it will offer activities such as nature trails, coastal clean-ups, workshops, and outdoor expeditions – fostering environmental awareness and community engagement.
